Circa 1900 - This stately mahogany slant front desk or bureau likely hails from Britain. The slant front opens to reveal numerous small drawers and "secret" compartments (two next to the cupboard and two above the pigeon holes). The slant front rests on two loopers. The piece has two small drawers over three larger, graduated drawers on top of bracket feet. The edges of the drawer faces are crossbanded, which greatly adds to the pieces overall charm. A beautiful and very functional piece.
Condition: This piece is in very good condition. The slant front would have originally had a tooled leather writing surface that no longer exists. The desk area has subsequently been finished and looks quite good. There are a few areas of veneer repairs and various minor imperfections to the surface.
Dimensions: 46"W x 22"D x 42"H
